Charleston at its best. High 82F

We visited Charleston by foot today. We walked and we walked and we walked. Jim and I took a detour and went to the Johnson Hagood Stadium since this was near where my documents had been delivered. While waiting for a bus, we saw this really interesting business.

A laundromat with a restaurant in it. Brilliant!
The place was packed with college students, doing their laundry, studying and grabbing a bite.

Once we got the documents, we called a cab to go meet Jeff and Susan back at the Downtown core. Apparently our cab dispatcher did not believe Jim when he said he was at the Citadel. When he gave her the address, she told him that was impossible. Directly across the street for the Stadium stands the Alumni building and when she suggested he might be there, in desperation he said, I will be there, send a cab there. To which she replied "No tell me where you really are?" After a circular conversation that was really quite comical, we waited our 30 minutes to catch a cab to downtown. About 25 minutes into our wait, we received a phone call stating, your cab has arrived and is waiting for you. Jim hung up and then we saw the cab coming around the corner. Interesting system here!

So once downtown, we went for a quick lunch and then walked through the Market then off to Church Street

and then Water street

to the Battery where we stopped to smell the flowers. We stopped to enquirer about a horse and buggy ride, but unfortunately they use a lottery system to determine where you go and they do not tell you which section of town you get to visit, so we decided not to take the tour.

On our way back up to our trolley stop for the marina, we met up with a group of industrious kids who sold lemonade. We purchased a glass each and got a picture of the little tykes along with the dog named "CAT". Apparently they have a cat named "MOUSE" as well. I could not help but think about my sister Marie-Anne who has pictured of a fork titled 'knife' and a spoon titled 'fork'. She would have loved these little munchkins.

Upon our return to the Marina, Which by the way is Massive! We headed for the hot tub, because our little feet are dog tired and we need some hot water to relax them a bit.

We ended our evening with Dinner on Gran Vida followed by a rematch of Euchre, where Jeff and I beat Jim and Sue, fair and square! I had a lovely picture to prove it, but I'm pretty sure Susan purposely forgot to load it on the Key she gave me. I will get it tomorrw, but for now you will have to believe me.

Tomorrow we are off to new places. See you then !

  1. OH NO! Seriously. Too funny. Honestly. Equipment malfunction! I will drop the pic off to you in the a.m. We had soooo much fun with you guys. Cruising just won't be the same. We hope to catch up soon, either in Hamilton, the 'tang, or in a couple of days up the river. It's all in pencil! Safe travels, you two.
