Rafting for 4 at Tom Bigbee river 33◦57'.254 N 088◦31'.891 W

We had a wonderful day of cruising today. We started out at 7:08am. We were all alone at the anchorage, so we were not anticipating traveling with 7 other boats. However when we arrived at the first lock, there were 7 other looper boats there. Some we knew and some new friends from Seattle Washington. We traveled through the first 4 locks together, and one of them dropped off after that. We lost a second boat just before lock # 5 and two more of them took off further than us after lock #5, so then there were 4. We ended up at a section of the old Tom Bigbee river and wanted to anchor, but there was little room so we ended up rafting together to avoid having to anchor separately.
During our  travels, we got a few good shots of some of our partner boats enjoying the calm cruising with their auto pilots on and enjoying the beautiful warm sun on the bow of the boat.

We also came across an island that is now under water, but the trees continue to hold on for dear life.
After dinner, we all convened on our top enclosed deck for conversation over a glass of wine.
I could not get a picture of our rafting tonight because we got here so late, that the sun was setting as we anchored, but I am hoping to get a shot tomorrow am, before we leave this site.

Tomorrow we are aiming for Columbus to meet up with Randy and Sherrie again. We are certainly looking forward to it. Nighty night all.

  1. I really like the first photo of all four boats being tied off to one another.

  2. "a glass of wine", as in singular...have you learned nothing at the AUYC?
Your photos are lovely; misty mornings, rafted boats, delightful scenery.
