We left Charleston Harbor Marina today under some very windy
skies. The waves in the harbor were about 3 footers. Now anchored in the creek,
we are being tossed around a bit, but not too bad. We received an e-mail from
Jeff and Sue saying we were in Tornado country, but the news said we were
expecting high winds and a thunderstorm with hail. Not really sure what to
expect, but we are batting down the hatches just in case.
It sure was nice at the Harbor. The Marina we were in was
very large. At the end of the dock there was an aircraft carrier and a war ship
on display.
On the first dock was the Pinta and the Nina yet again. We met with
them back in Peoria in October. They are on tour around the country and
apparently we are on the same path. This would be the third time we end up in
the same marina.
As we are going up the
coast the tides are getting a bit less. Tonight's anchorage has a 4 foot tide
which is ½ of what we have been experiencing in this state.
As promised last night, I have a photo of Jeff and I
celebrating our win against the tricky little Susan and the card shark Jim. We
were quite sad to leave them today, however we found out latter this evening
that they will likely catch up to us in the next day or two. I see a Euchre
rematch some time real soon!

Tomorrow will be a short day for us, as we position
ourselves for a hop to Myrtle beach the day after tomorrow. Jim is really
looking forward to a golf game or 2 and now that Jeff and Susan will be catching
up, he will have a partner to play with. Apparently I am not good enough to
play on these courses! THE NERVE of some people. I can play under 100...on a 9
hole course!
This morning Jim and I did a few chores and then I went grocery shopping on the free trolley the Marina supplies. I was the only one on the Trolley this am. He was to come back and pick me up at 9:30am but he was a little late. When the doors finally opened, Jim's hand came out and he said "can I help you Madam?" I had no idea he had gone out shopping, but the trolley operator gave him a ride to West Marine and waited for him. When Jim got back on the Trolley, he said shoot, I may be late to pick up a lady at the grocery store. Jim smiled and said it's ok; that's my wife. We were the only ones on the trolley back, now that is service. Our trolley driver got a nice and well deserved tip from us.
Back at the dock, we were awfully glad to see a dock cart available. Jim had purchased 8 gallons of oil and I had 2 gallons of distilled water and a bunch of groceries. The walk to our boat from the main building is about 10 min, so despite the crooked wheels that threatened to fall off, it was still better than carrying all that stuff! Now fully provisioned we are good for the next 10 days or so, but we will likely hit a marina stop within the next 2-3 days. Good night all
Check out the long dock and that's after we get to the main dock |
