Rock and Roll is the theme for tonight, cause that's what we
did all morning. The weatherman said 15 knot winds with 1 meter wave but it was
actually 20 knot winds and 1.5 meter waves and they were hitting us from all
sides. The dishes in the cupboard went clang a few times but nothing broke. Now
I remember why the "Holy shit" bars are mounted to the ceiling! It
was 11am before it had settled enough that I braved opening any cupboards to
see. Once they settled though, Jim and I took some time to relax on the bow . I
love the auto pilot! Set a course and let the boat drive itself. We got to
Tobermory in really good time. We went to check in; and on our way back to the
boat; we saw a couple sitting on a bench beside our boat. They looked awfully
familiar. It was Commodore Dave and Jan, bearing gifts of spiced rum, none the
less. Dave had been following our blog and they decided to come have lunch in
Tobermory and see if they could catch us. What a nice surprise it was. We had a
short visit on the Lido deck and then they went home while we got down to
business. Provisioning was easy because the Foodland is about 150 feet from our
bow! We then took a 3km walk to the hardware store first and then to the liquor store. Beer and
wine is a staple on this trip!
Once everything was
put away, we had dinner at a local restaurant. The fresh grilled whitefish was
spectacular. After dinner we did the rest of the cleaning; garbage out, water
in and a quick shower with some good pressure. So now a glass of wine on the
lido deck and enjoying the view of this picturesque town. While sitting here,
some other couple came walking up to the boat. Again looking awfully
familiar. It was Pat Warton. A nurse I
had worked with in St-Joseph's Hospital back in the late 1990's. This one was a
chance encounter, as she lives here now, but another pleasant surprise. Tomorrow
we are aiming for Providence Bay on Manitoulin Island. Let's hope it's not
quite as bumpy. Staying upright in this rock and roll stuff however is a heck
of a good exercise for the abs!
That was so nice of Commador and Jan to visit. Alex and I are heading up to Blue Mountain this weekend, starting Thursday , to the Pet Valu convention. Phoebe is staying on Bill and Shirley's boat. So glad they can take care of her. Hope is well on your next leg of your journey
