Well a
perfect day today. So perfect we forgot to take any pictures. Instead we just
enjoyed the views for ourselves. We set out @ 6:30 am with engines running,
anchor up and a plan to make it to Point au Baril. Alas the gods of the weather
made the weatherman call high wind warnings and waves up to 2 meters high; starting
in the afternoon and , well, being fair weather sailors we opted to make it to
snug harbor and hunker down. The winds did pick up but nothing that this
perfectly balanced boat could not handle. But here we were in Fitzgerald Bay at noon; anchored so well that we decided
to stay here anyway. It's beautiful here; as it is in most places around the
Georgian. So we quickly took a shower and made some lunch and then plotted our
course for tomorrow. Then we took the dinghy out for a tour of all the little
bays. It's very rocky around here! We ended up at Snug Harbor on the dinghy. Good
thing we didn't bring the big boat in, cause this harbor fits it's name. There
is a small general store there; and they happen to serve hard ice cream...
couldn't resist! After the ice cream break we tooted on back to the boat and
went for a swim. Georgian bay is freaking cold! It was very refreshing and Jim
got the goggles out to check out the props and shafts etc... Got back in,
toweled off and settled for some reading and relaxing on the Lido deck Absolutely
perfect day. Tomorrow however we are going to cut across the Georgian and get
to Tobermory. We made reservations at the government docks, so we'll do an
overnighter to provision, get the water tanks filled and clean out the garbage
can before we head into Lake Huron. We will be driving right past Flower Pot
island though. I need to check out what keeps Cathy coming back here; year
after year. Thinking of you all.
Ok I broke
down and took a picture of our bathing suits hanging from the cloth line on the
Lido deck. Jim just installed it last night. You can just call us the
Clampetts!
