Another long ride in a bucket 44◦44.900N 079◦20'.522W

We have had yet another beautiful day. We started out 2hrs earlier than usual due to the fact that we managed to get through the Bobcaygeon Lock. We had a 2hrs trip to the next lock and given their late openings, it was nice to get going earlier than usual.

By the time we got to the Fenlon Falls lock at 10am, there were already 2 house boats waiting to be locked through. It was a sight to behold.

The first house boat captain was not very experienced, so he bounced off the wall and ended up in the lock sideways. This forced the second house boat to stop unexpectedly and he also bounced off the wall. Fortunately Jim was far enough behind to not get tangled up in the disaster. We got to the next lock and only one of the house boats kept going. However he is much slower than us so it held us up for about 10min waiting for them to arrive. Our first thought was "great, we will never make it through to Lake Simcoe, but we were wrong.

We made it through Kirkfield lock. This is another of those bucket locks where you drive in. Jim was looking over the edge of the bucket as he drove in. Good thing I was not driving, I might have panicked. He took the pictured today, because you could not pay me enough to get to the front of the boat as he drove into this bucket.

We met the other bucket half way down and that's about the time I was able to breathe again!

The last three locks are manned by one team who travel between all three sites, but they were absolutely fabulous and managed to get us through all of them and the swing bridge before their closing time of 4pm. Since we were going tickety boo, we decided to make our way through lake Simcoe and are now docked at a bridge before the next swing bridge.

It's a lovely spot but every time a car goes over the bridge it sound like thunder! We may not sleep too well tonight, but on the plus side, we are farther along than anticipated and should get to the Penetang tomorrow night. If not, we will get to Penatang by early Saturday, either way, it will feel good to get there and stop running for a few days. Can't wait to see Jeff and Sue again to. I feel a rematch coming on.

Good night y'all
