One the menu for lunch today was burgers. There is an art to barbequing while the boat is lunging back and forth over 3-4 foot waves. Let's start with the equipment. The tray you choose must have edges on it. Oh and the amount of food should be doubled to account for the stuff you will lose. The flipper must be very long, and you must have  really good shoes on and be prepared to have a really wide stance. A chair near the BBQ is a necessity, since that wide stance is hard to maintain over time. Things you need to remember is that the BBQ is hot and should not be used as a place to grab when you lose your footing and last but not least if you will be leaning on things to maintain your balance make sure they are not at crotch height!
So today we originally where going to go across the lake to Sturgeon Bay with Ted and Debbie. However the weather report this am called for SSW winds and we would have been heading due west across the lake which would mean we would be getting plowed with beam waves again for a whole day. Also Ted and Debbie had offered to arrange for a spot for us to anchor or tie up on a mooring ball. With the plan that we would sleep at their house. This was a wonderful offer but with the weather changing, we felt a bit uncomfortable leaving the boat unattended as well. So after starting off we called Debbie and thanked them for the offer, but we would stay on the eastern shore for today. We had to call them because they were up and out of the marina by 5:30am. We thought we were early risers!   We could not leave the Marina until 9am because the marina guy left yesterday after tying us up, so we did not pay for the night. This morning he did not show up until 8:30. So by the time we got paid up, started up and rearing to go, it was 9am.

The weather forecast for tomorrow remains very bad. The last report we heard was calling for 7 to 9 foot waves and gale force winds. So we put 150gals worth of fuel in the boat and took a slip for two nights. This storm we will be tied up safely and soundly! We are currently at Manistee Municipal Marina in Manistee Michigan. We will be here for all of Wednesday and maybe even Thursday depending on how this storm rolls over. In the mean time, we got a picture of Sleeping bear Island for you.
