Now on Lake Michigan 45◦ 01.511N 085◦ 45.

Sept 08/ 2014.  This morning Jim and I woke up to a gentle rocking motion in Mackinac (pronounced Mackinaw) Harbor. The water was like glass; it was heavenly. We decided to leave early as the day was beautiful and we still have a long way to go before Chicago. It was a long day, we left at 0640 am and stopped at 5:45 pm and we managed almost 90 miles. The lake was calm most of the day with 2 foot waves, but we hit some larger waves about 1 hr before we arrived in Leland Michigan. The Mackinaw Bridge is the first thing we past and it is a most imposing sight. The bridge is 4 miles long and 135 feet of clearance below it.  On the way we also saw what is probably one of the last pilot house forward "lakers" left. So I included a picture here to give you an idea how massive these things are. I also got the last tabs sewn on the cushions so I installed the hardware this afternoon. It was a little difficult with the boat moving but I managed it....after dropping the screw about 10 times. Then when we pulled into the Leland Marina we got a huge surprise as Ted and Debbie; who we met 2 days ago in Detour; were here as well. We had dinner with them again tonight and they have invited us to join them in Sturgeon Bay tomorrow. This is directly across the lake on the side we want to be. It also happens to be the shortest route across the lake so we will check the weather tomorrow am and take the plunge now. Tomorrow's forecast is supposed to be awesome, but they are calling for GALE force winds on Wednesday so wherever we land tomorrow, we better be ready to stay there for a day or two.
