Our day started out cool but calm as anything this am
Once again the canal was mirror like and gorgeous.
Once we got to Lock 22 however, the wind picked up quite a bit and by the time we got to the mouth of Oneida Lake we were greeted with some significant wave action.
It did not take Jim and I long to decided to stay put, after all, we have absolutely no need to expose ourselves to this bouncing waves at this point.
The wind is so bad that we actually had to take out the storm lines. the white one is 1 inch in diameter and "strong like bull". We also tied our smaller 3/4 inch lines to a bollard because we were worried that the cleats on the cement wall would be pulled out.
After dinner we went for a walk along the path, but the waves were crashing over the side walk, so we chose a different route.
Some people however, are crazy enough to be wadding in this water, waist deep, all in the name of fishing. Too each his own!
It's supposed to drop to the freezing mark tonight and we are really wondering what we were thinking when we left the sunny south to head back this way! Either way, tomorrow at some ungodly hour, we will set off to cross this little lake before the wind starts to pick up again.
We should be in Oswego tomorrow night and hopefully crossing Lake Ontario on the 24th. As long as the weather gods give us calm waters.
So good night to all. Hope y'all enjoy the long weekend.
Loving the Selfie hahaha
