It's a bit of a sad day today. 27◦27'.365N 80◦18'.286W

Don't get me wrong, this whole trip has just been amazing, but I have to admit to feeling in a bit of a funk today. The day started out OK with a glorious sunrise

but once we weighted the anchor and started setting out, I was struck; rather by surprise, with the realization that we are on the tail end of this adventure. When we weight anchor, it is my job to drive while Jim does the heavy anchor lifting and cleaning. Since I was at the helm, with all these instruments shinning their information at me, the GPS and the Autopilot both reading a bearing of 0◦00'.00, It could not have been more clear that we were heading NORTH.

Within minutes, we were faced with heavy traffic and murky looking water. Not to mention the humid heavy 90◦F air.

Gone are the clear waters of the Bahamas; gone are the wonderfully peaceful sights, gone is the cooling winds of those pristine islands we have spent the last 2 months enjoying. Soon, much sooner than we think, this whole adventure will come to a close. It leaves me wondering what life will be like after the fact. I imagine many days where we will be wistfully recounting the "remember when" moments, which are now indelibly printed in our minds. If my father were alive today, he would say "tu te plaint le ventre plein!" which means you are complaining of hunger with a full tummy.

So I must give my head a shake, refocus on the positive and move on. We still have 4 months after all. I am certain it won't be long before a new adventure will take our attention and remind us of how truly fortunate we are. Today was not a total wash after all.

We did get to check out some of little homes that dot the Intracoastal waterway.

We saw a few kids enjoying a tube ride and once the haze cleared, a most beautiful day greeted us.

We lowered our mast last night, which allowed us to whiz through all the bridges we would otherwise have to get to open for us. This saved us a lot of time and frustration. We met up with some old friends; Jesse and Linda from Bama dream when we stopped for fuel

and we closed our day with after dinner conversation and drinks on Cathy and Duncan's back deck. Tomorrow we will separate from them as they head to Titusville and we take off to Melbourne beach. Cathy and Duncan leave their boat in Florida, so they will be getting all of that prep work done and driving home to Hamilton.

We are still aiming for Canaveral for the 25th. Good night all.
