Today was
the usual sessions most of the day. Jim and I caught mechanics 101 which Jim
could have taught. We covered some medical preparedness; which although I am fairly
well versed in such matters, it was still interesting. In the afternoon Stuart and Liz drove us into
town so we could provision before our departure on Friday. When we returned; we
got ready for the Cotton Gin Party.
A bunch of us went to an old cotton gin via
a bus provided by the Chamber of Commerce and we had a blast. Look how excited Jim is!
They started with
a buffet dinner of fresh white fish and chicken and then we had a dance and
cooking s'moors on the back patio. This young lady named Taylor
sang with a voice just like Patsy Cline
and then a wonderful band came on and regaled
us with some good ol' music. The bass
player was quite entertaining as he played the bass with a fly swatter!
And then
he pulled out the oldest kitchen sink guitar in all of Alabama. We laughed we
danced and we had a great time.
Tomorrow
will be our last day at the Rendezvous
and then we will be off to the river system for another 10 day trek to
get to the Gulf of Mexico
